Crown Prosecutor Alan Bacarese

Alan Bacarese, Senior Crown Prosecutor, is visiting Argentina in August. During his stay, he will take part in a workshop on Asset Recovery organised by San Andrés University, as part of a SPF project entitled: "Corruption Control, Whistle Blowing and Asset Recovery: Investigation and Public Promotion" implemented by ACIJ (Asociación Civil por la Igualdad y la Justicia, in spanish) and San Andrés University.
He will also meet Dr Alejandro Strega, National Representative of the Ministry of Justice at GAFI (Grupo de Acción Financiera, in spanish), and he will be giving a talk at FLACSO (Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales, in spanish) for MPs and advisors.

Since joining the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in 1988, Bacarese has prosecuted cases involving all kinds of criminal activity, specialising not only in human rights work but also homicide and terrorism.
In 2002, he started working as Policy Adviser for the European and International Division of the CPS Policy Directorate, which specialises in cross-border crime, investigating corruption cases. He also became a member of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECD) Bribery Working Group, getting involved in evaluating several countries in Eastern Europe and Latin America. He has also worked with the Inter-American Development Bank, the EU and the Council of Europe.
In 2007 Bacarese was sent to work at the International Centre on Asset Recovery, providing his advice and expertise regarding the recovery of assets from criminal proceedings and money laundering.
