Our embassy in Buenos Aires
The Embassy is the representation of the British government in Argentina. It is headed by the Ambassador, Shan Morgan. What is more, the British Embassy in Buenos Aires represents British interests in Argentina. To be able to provide the best service it is divided in several sections, each of which works in a specific area.
Commercial section
The trade and investment section's main goals are:
- To assist British companies in the export of goods and services to Argentina.
- To assist British companies investing in the market.
- To obtain high value added investments for the UK economy.

Visas Section
The Visas section is responsible for receiving the visa applications of citizens and residents of both Argentina and Paraguay who wish to travel to the United Kingdom (England, scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) as well as the visa applications for Commonwealth countries and British Overseas Territories.

Consular Section
The Consular Section of the Embassy is responsible for inter alia, looking after the welfare of British Nationals visiting or living in Argentina, issuing passports, registering births and deaths, and carrying out notarial acts.

Defence Section
The main responsibilities of the Defence Section of the Embassy are:
- Promoting relations between British and Argentine MOD and Armed Forces
- Acting as Liaison Officers for visiting British Service personnel on exercise in Argentina
- Overseeing of Commercial Defence Contracts
- Maintaining the Contacts Programme - Exchange visits between the UK and Argentina
- Acting as Liaison Officers for War Veteran Societies
- Ensuring maintenance of War Graves.
Management Section
The Management Section of the British Embassy in Buenos Aires, headed up by the Senior Management Officer, aims to provide an efficient service to the staff and families of the British Embassy in Buenos Aires, as well as ensuring the smooth, secure and cost effective running of the Embassy.
Political and Public Diplomacy Section
- This Section distributes information material about Britain
- The Press and Information Section maintains close links with the Argentine media, as well as the international press corps.
