Chevening Scholarships

The UK’s Chevening Scholarships Programme is funded by the FCO and run in Argentina by the British Embassy.

Chevening scholarships enable young leaders from more than 150 countries to pursue postgraduate studies in the university of their choice in the UK.

The Chevening programme in Argentina has been running for 19 years now and has enabled more than 300 outstanding young Argentines to study in the UK and then return to Argentina to make a difference.

The selection process is very strict and competitive, because there is a high demand for these scholarships, and the required candidate profile is very specific. This exchange programme seeks to support young Argentines who are committed to a professional career, have the makings of future leaders in their field of expertise, and show a real interest in contributing to the development of their country.

On their return to Argentina, Chevening scholars become part of a Chevening Alumni Association (AChA) which offers the possibility of frequent contact with other Argentines who share the same experience and are now holding interesting positions in the public sector, private sector, civil society or academic world, and provides direct access to activities organised by the British Embassy and the British Council.

Chevening scholars may study at any British university, for periods of three months to one year, covering disciplines like Public Policies, Economics and Finance, Communication, Law, etc. Tuition fees up to £12,000 will be covered for master’s courses in business administration and public administration, but confirmation is required of the availability of funds to cover the rest of the programme. The programme does not offer scholarships to study Medicine, English Language or Art.

The programme is intended for young Argentines (preferably aged between 25 and 35) with excellent command of English and ready to return to Argentina after completing their studies. Candidates who meet these general requirements should also submit a thorough application that includes a clear development plan, follows application instructions and shows that candidates have the distinctive Chevening profile that makes them potential leaders.

Scholarships cover air fares to and from the UK, tuition fees up to £12.000, a monthly subsistence allowance and medical cover by the National Health Service when the duration of the scholarship exceeds six months.
