Examples of project work

The Embassy plays an active role in promoting the exchange of ideas and experiences between Argentina and the United Kingdom, with a view to fostering a greater understanding between the two peoples. To this end, the Embassy arranges visits to and from the UK by prominent British and Argentine figures, and organises seminars and workshops on different subjects within the UK's field of expertise or of particular interest to the region.

Please find below a brief description of the Embassy’s current projects.

Implementation of mechanisms established by the UN Convention Against Torture  (OPCAT)

Implementing agencies: ICPS (International Centre for Prison Studies), CELS (Centre for Legal ands Social Studies) and ADC (Civil Rights Association).
Description: The aim of this project is to help the Argentine Government set up sustainable structures to enable the country to meet its obligation under OPCAT to prevent torture in places of detention. Through this, we are seeking to introduce international human rights standards into the prison system, with civil society participation.

Equal opportunities development: investigation of barriers and aids to the inclusion of disabled children in the education system and their training for an autonomous future in the City of Buenos Aires

Implementing agency: Fundación Par
Description: The projects seeks to increase social awareness among all those involved in the issue of inclusive education for the disabled by means of information and communication, providing a qualitative and quantitative study of the current situation in the education system, both at primary/secondary school and university level.

1st Latin American Conference and 7th National Conference on Drugs Policy

Implementing agency: Intercambios
Description: The NGO Intercanbios held the 1st. Latin American Conference and 7th National Conference on Drugs Policy on 6 and 7 August jointly with the Honourable Chamber of National Deputies. The Embassy supported this initiative together with other sponsors.
